Action for Children is committed to helping the most vulnerable and neglected children and young people break through injustice, deprivation and inequality, so they can achieve their full potential. As one of the UK's largest children's charities, they work with nearly 156,000 children, young people and their families at 420 projects across the UK.
By supporting Byte Night you are helping Action for Children tackle the root causes of homelessness, keeping vulnerable young people off the streets and enabling them to build better lives with access to education and training opportunities.
Action for Children’s youth projects provide a wide range of support services to help young people avoid homelessness. These include emergency and homelessness support, supported lodgings for those leaving the care system and housing education programmes.
Their projects deal with the issues that can lead to homelessness and help to change lives with vital independence skills, training opportunities and access to employment.
Your support at Byte Night 2011 will not only help to keep thousands of young people off the streets and away from physical harm but will help vulnerable young people across the UK build better lives.

This week Action for Children have published their ground breaking report - The Red Book, which looks at the impact of the coalition Government's decisions based on what is happening in our services and what the children, young people and families we work with tell us.
We have had extensive coverage across the British Media this week and we wanted to share this with you.
We particularly wanted you to see the coverage on Channel 4 last night, which highlights how important your support is in helping the most vulnerable children and young people in the UK. See the recent Channel 4 news story

We know the Government wants to support families and individuals before problems escalate or become entrenched, and it has put in place policies and initiatives that aspire to achieve this.
However these commitments were made at the same time as there being; unprecedented public spending cuts, radical reform of the welfare state and public service delivery, and at a time when there is a changing relationship between the individual and the state.
One year on, we have published the Action for Children Red Book, which is based on what is happening in our services and what the children, young people and families we work with tell us. The Red Book also shows how essential your support is, in continuing to do the work that we know is making life changing differences to the children and young people we support.
